Words From The Children

Scott Kirk

My mom is the type of person who is liked by everyone. She is timid but very outgoing at the same time. There isn't a single bad bone in her body. She has a wonderful sense of humor and I always love making her laugh.

Bonnie Kirk

The thing my Mom enjoyed most in this life was singing. She loved fine music… challenging music… Music with a message. Her passion was to sing about the love and joy she found in Christ because she longed for others to find it too! She spent her life communicating that message as beautifully as she could. Before losing her voice, Mom was a soprano. She could hit those “high notes”. Every season of her life had high notes of their own that she would hit with excellence. Christmas wasn’t Christmas until her favorite little angel sat poised on top of the mantel. Spring wasn’t Spring until she saw her first Robin and told us about it. Thanksgiving wasn’t Thanksgiving until she made her favorite pineapple casserole for the family. Life provided the rhythm and Mom responded with old, familiar melodies that could be anticipated and enjoyed by all. We could count on Mom to provide the high notes with confidence, beauty, and grace. While Mom was singing the melodies of the seasons, I like to think that I delivered the “accidentals” in her life. (In music, the accidental is a sudden departure from the key by raising or lowering a note.) In other words, I loved to make her laugh! Nothing gave me more joy than to get her going. I hope that some of the best notes in her life came from laughter created by her Bonnie Jean.

Doug Kirk

I've always called my mom an angel because, like Scott said, there is not a bad bone in her body.  She shows love and compassion to everyone she meets, and she has always reflected God's love.  I will always treasure how my mom and I used to stay up late at night watching MASH and the Honeymooners with a bowl (or two) of ice cream.  Then we would openly talk until 1 or 2 am.  I will miss her sweet voice and beautiful smile.  I love you, Mom.

Thanks
